Do you study English at a college or something? Maybe you could hook with other foreigners for starters, they're always a good way to get out and about to meet people. I had foreign friends when I was at uni and they used to go out in big groups and meet British people that way. It also depends which part of the UK you are in. I wouldn't call the entire South unfriendly because the South West IS friendly, most people are curious about foreign visitors .etc. and like to get to know them more. I've met a few in the past couple of months Polish .etc. and they were in local pubs socialising with British people with no problems. Go to the library as well, that's a good way to meet people. What are your hobbies? Join a group. Buy British mags and newspapers, use the internet to network. There are ways round things.
Good luck!

In Fengshui, noise pollution is named as "Sheng Sha". If you stay in such condition for a long time..it will bring you more negative outcome than good. Especially if you are sensitive to it.

The adverse effect to your mood will cause you everything, including health, work and family life. Hence the only thing is to move to a quieter place at a low cost. It is never worth withstanding all these. There is no way in Fengshui to solve your problem unless you wanna build an expensive sound proof walls. Hence my final advise is still to move..worth the effort!

I think that it may be to do with the English reserve. People in Wales and Scotland, the far west and the far north of England are more relaxed when it comes to talking to strangers. It strikes me that your questions sound a little bit intrusive, as though you were interviewing the person. If you came up to me and started asking all sorts of personal questions, I might think that you were prying into my private affairs. Try not to ask them about themselves. It is easier to talk about general topics, such as the weather, how bad public transport is getting, how lovely those flowers look, etc. etc. One topic leads to another. You should also be prepared to talk a little bit about yourself (not too much!) to break the ice, rather than fire questions at the other person. Here are some hints: http://ezinearticles.com/?Conversation-Starters-that-Work-Like-Magic&id=111791

According to Feng Shui cultural and social issues are influenced by natural, metaphysical and cosmological factors.

Anyone that has researched Feng Shui history knows that this level of interaction between all things is the theory of chi. Although chi is present everywhere, it pools in special places which are very auspicious in feng shui. When a less than auspicious placement occurred, Feng Shui cures were sought to change the flow of energy. This inclusion of nature into the living environment is the first point in Feng Shui and it provides solid ground for higher levels above. The art of Feng Shui is the balancing of energies through adjusting the relationships of particular items in the environment. In Feng Shui, a home and family were lucky if they were blessed to be placed in the most auspicious surroundings.

I wouldn't want someone I didn't know just coming up and asking me question. Nothing to do with you being foreign, it's just most people don't just start conversations with strangers, unless their at a party or a club.

It may be your questions too. Why don't you try just chatting about sports or current events. Asking people "which city you come from? what places of interest , food do you recommend? ........what is your hobby?" is a bit weird.

Just try and have casual chat with your classmates & co workers, after a while it could develop into a friendship.

Don't try to hard though and don't say things like " I think the whole English race is like this"

That makes you sound racist and ignorant.

fengshui has nothing to do with sound; it is not a decorating tool.

energy in fengshui is intangible or it cannot be sensed. fengshui practitioners usually use certain fengshui methods to locate it and know its characteristics, so we can use it accordingly.

there is no ideal type of house, because fengshui does not work that way. instead the energy distribution of a house depends on the main front door of the house (different for a condo type), and when you first moved in (time in fengshui is a major factor). these 2 factors are used to determine the energy distribution using flying stars method. so, in theory, you can live in any house you want. you just need to arrange the different rooms inside it to optimize life (not the furnitures!). in essence you put the more lived rooms in areas where there is good energy, while leaving the less used rooms in the areas where there is bad energy.

Funny Co-incidence, V.G, but my old Sparring Partner, and erstwhile Cellmate, BadBeast went on a quest, for the very same Fabled Isle, not 3 days hence. He believed he had a secret tunnel entrance, pinned down, at the bottom of a flight of lock gates,on the Kennet and Avon Canal.
He told me, it led out to the Underground Sea of Valusia, which I admit, Ive never heard of,( only having a C.S.E grade 4 in Geography ) but he assured me it stretched from the foothills of the Himalyas, to Atlantis, which he believed to be somewhere in the Bristol Channel.Being somewhat wary of BadBeasts inspirational theories, (remember,I shared a Cell with him for 3 months during the dark days of Thatcherism) I told him I would come along with him, but only as far as this, alleged tunnel entrance, and there was no way I was getting wet, thinking that his rather short attention span would begin to falter, as his "medication" wore off.
But no, His enthusiasm seemed to increase as the night wore on, and I could not distract him from his fevered ranting, about "Guardians" and some kind of Ape creatures that were hiunting him.
I must admit, that i stopped listening to his garbled nonsense, some hour or two earlier, but as we neared the afore-mentioned lock gates, he became quiet, and reserved, and began peering around the shadows, muttering under his breath about how "time was running out" and "not long left now".Then he began beating at the bramble bushes with his silver tipped cane, yelling "come out, come out, you hairy little bastards" and all of a sudden, the bushes exploded, and 6 or 7 apeish shapes emerged, armed with stout cudgels, and set upon him. I was unable to reach him in time to assist in the despatching of these horrid chimpish rogues , but BB shouted, "its no good, you cant fight the report monkeys" , and i thought that was it, as he disappeared under a mass of screeching black fur.
But, in a Supreme effort of Martial Arts skill, and grim, determination, he fought his way free of them, and with a cry of " Tell Julia I love her" he adjusted his snorkel, dived into the inky blackness of the K&A, and was gone, follwed by the remaining monkeys.
And that was the end of good old BadBeast. I can only hope that he found his way to that mythical Isle, as no body was found, but I fear the worst, that
he was so close to someones secret, that he was slain for it.
Theres a lesson for us all in there somewhere, but Im buggered if I can work it out.
